Reading
This week, we are investigating features of Non-Fiction
books. There are certain things
that Non Fiction books have that help a reader understand the topic
better. Find a non fiction book at
your house (or check one out from the library). Record 3 different text features that your book has. Write the feature down, and what
information it shares with the reader.
The non fiction text features are:
Types of Print, Table of Contents, Index, Glossary,
Diagrams, Maps, Charts, Headings, Insets, Picture Captions, Insets or Sidebars.
Writing
We just finished
our first Expository writing piece of the school year. The kids did a great job writing about
something they were already an expert in and knew a lot about.
