In Math, we have been talking about Multiplication, but also doing some addition and subtraction review. So, today we went shopping! I put several items in our classroom "up for sale."
The students were paired up and told they could spend $99.00 buying the items in the classroom. Their task was to spend all their money and see who could buy the most items.
They had to work together to agree on what items to purchase (there was great debate with several of the groups). They had to keep track of their purchases and how much money they had spent on paper. They also could double check their work with a calculator.
It was amazing to see how different each pair spent their money. It was a wonderful way to work with a partner and practice those negotiating skills, as well as get in some subtraction practice.
