Writing:

We have been talking about “Great Beginnings” in our writing. A great beginning captures our reader’s attention, and makes them want to read more. Choose 2 of our Great Beginning strategies, and write 2 different beginnings to a story.

1. Interesting description. ex. Ashes filled the air when I was around the camp fire. Crackle, crackle it went.

2. Sound. ex. Boom! The trunk slammed. Bang! The car doors slammed as we got out of the van.

3. Exclamation. ex. Yeah! We’re going to Disneyland tomorrow! Yeah!” I yelled about as loud as I could.

Reading:

We have been discussing elements of PLOT in stories.

A main part of plot is the CLIMAX of a story. It is often the turning point of a story. It is often the most exciting part of a story. The RESOLUTION is how the climax/problem is solved. It is the end of the story.

Choose a picture book from your house, tell me its title, the climax of the story and the resolution.

Math

Please solve this word problem. You can use pictures and/or numbers. You must also write and label your work so I can see your thinking.

Susie has 18 cookies. She wants to share them with two friends. If each person (including Susie) gets the same number of cookies, how many will each person get?
