Early Portland

We have started learning about early Portland, and what our city looked like before it was a city. Above you can see our Portland map that we are building. Right now, the map shows what the Willamette Valley looked like 20 million years ago. The shallow ocean that covered our entire area has receded. The Missoula Floods have brought rocks and very nutrient rich soil to our area. Native trees are growing creating a dense forest. As we learn more, our map will change to reflect it.
