Math

We are sending home a booklet that outlines the strategies we have used in class to solve the basic multiplication facts. Use the book to study the facts. Take a fact family (ex. The x2’s) and spend a few days focusing on those. Practice them in the car, over dinner, playing games. Integrate them any way possible.

Note: Not everyone finished their book, they can finish at home using their multiplication chart from last week to help them.

In your journal, tell me about how you are practicing your multiplication facts at home.

Reading:

Think about the author’s purpose strategies that we have discussed (to entertain, to inform, to persuade).

Write a short paragraph that is inspired by Valentine’s Day. You need to either entertain, inform or persuade your reader.

This is based on our sweetheart activity in class.

Writing:

Pick a room, any room, and spend 10 to 15 minutes observing it. It can be in school, in a candy store, or in your home. Write down your observations.. Try to be as descriptive as you can.

In the coming weeks, you will work on different types of nonfiction writing, but in each case your ability to find the right words and the colorful details will be what makes your story come to life.
