This week, we started our formal unit on fractions. We have talked about fractions through our Number Corner (Calendar) part of our math curriculum. But, for the next few weeks, we will focus on all things fractions. We started investigating how fractions are "equal parts" of one whole. We used our geoboards to figure out how many different ways we can divide one whole (the circle). We were able to find 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/6, 1/8 and 1/12. We will continue to explore different ways to make fractions, and work with equivalent fractions.
