Math

We have been working with a time and how minutes can add up to an hour.

One night this week, time yourself…
Eating dinner
Reading a book
Brushing your teeth
Putting on your PJs

How long did each of those things take.  When you add it all together, how many minutes total did you spend?  Can you “trade” any of the minutes to hours?

Reading:
This week, we have talked about “Tuning in to Interesting  Words.”  One thing about reading is that we learn new and interesting words!!!

In your book at home that you are reading.  What some interesting words that you found in your book?  They may be words you already know, but they can still be interesting!  What are the words?  Why did the author use them?  Did they make the story more interesting to read?

Writing:

One way to get the reader interested in our stories is to have a GREAT BEGINNING.

Find a book at home with a GREAT BEGINNING.  What is the name of the book, and what is the first sentence.  Why did that sentence make you want to keep reading the book.
