Homework 11/29

DUE: December 5, 2012

Goal:  Write a goal that supports your learning this week.
Goal Evaluation:  Write a sentence or two explaining how you did on your goal.

Math
We have started a new unit on Geometry.

Create a table with at least 3 examples of each type of angle from around your house.

Ex.  Acute Angle     Right Angle     Obtuse Angle
scissors       table leg         chair back
(You could use the corner of this page to measure each angle to see if it is less than, greater than, or equal to a right angle.)

Writing:
Another type of writing is the “How-to” or instructional writing.  Think about something that you know how to do.  Write a paragraph telling someone else how to do it.  Make sure you include all the steps and all the materials/items they will need to complete the task.

(for example, How to make a Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich)

Reading:
This week, we have developed strategies of what to do when we come to a word we don’t know in our reading.  You can be a “Word Observer” and a “Word Connector”  Over the next week, in your reading, find 2 examples of words that you do not know.  Write each word, and what you think it means.  How did you decide what it meant?  Did you get clues from the picture?  From the text?

Spelling:
In your border, write your spelling words  BACKWARDS style!!!!  Remember, you have your own list of words!

Write them forward and right next to it, write the same word backwards.

Ex.    where    erehw
